PPTC Parents - The Next Generation (TNG)
If you’ve been reading past issues of our newsletter, you had to notice that PPTC had a prolific year
in the baby department. We are inviting all the proud young parents to come together and celebrate
PPTC - TNG.
The purpose of this group is to bring together parents who may have been sliding in their training, or
who are looking for help to fit their miles into their hectic schedule. Lauren Davenport
has stepped up to pioneer this group. Lauren gave birth to baby girl Bijs in January,
while husband Andrew collected his "Most Miles" award at the annual club dinner. She’s getting back into
the running, and she wants to know how others are managing it.
The first outing is set for Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 9:30 am. TNG will start from
the Bartel Pritchard Sq. entrance on 15th St and PPW, across from the Pavilion Movie Theater. Strollers
are welcome and encouraged. All ages under 10 are welcome. The agenda will be loosely structured. Lauren
says, "We’ll have a fun run/walk and see how it goes. Please, please, do not freak out about your fitness
level. People, I had a baby in January!"

DUAL STARTS FOR SAT. GROUP RUNS
During the summer months, our group runs offer the option of starting at 7AM or 8AM.
All are welcome at either group regardless of pace or distance. Since, primarily,
the dual option is due to the heat, the group profiles defy easy categorization, but
here’s a snapshot:
7am: Corre, Krishna, Brad, Sarah, Pieter, Stacey, Amy, Geoff, etc. about 10-12 altogether.
Distance: 10+
Goal: Half or full marathon in the fall
Overall Pace: Strong 8-8:30/mile
8am: Gil, Frank, Maggie, David, Marvlyn, Teneka, Cristin, not many more than 6-8 so far
Distance: 2 loops to 20 milers
Goal: Fall marathon/ 10K
Pace: split between 8’s and 10’s
WEDS. NIGHT group runs continue as usual at 7:15 PM. These usually do 1 loop. Both groups meet on the sidewalk
at the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Pk.
