Summer/Fall Speed Workouts
PPTC's next 10-week session of Speed Workouts under the excellent direction of Coach Tony Watson
will begin during the week of August 26. For the first time, workouts will be held on both
Tuesday and Thursday nights to allow runners with like abilities to train together. The Tuesday
night workouts are geared for runners whose 5K race pace ranges from 5 minutes to 8:30 minutes per mile. The
Thursday night workouts will accommodate runners whose 5K race pace is greater than 8:30 minutes per mile.
The session will end during the week of October 26. The cost to register for the Speed Workouts is $50 for PPTC
members and $100 for non-members.
Due to overwhelming demand, the Tuesday night workout group has reached capacity. There are plenty of spots available
for Thursday nights. So if your race pace is in the 9 minute range and you're training for a fall marathon, or just
looking to improve your race times, sign up for the Thursday night workouts today. Registration will be closed once
capacity is reached, or on September 9, whichever occurs first.

Group Runs - Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays
PPTC and Slope Sports have teamed up for weekly group runs.
Saturday mornings at 8 am, we meet on the sidewalk at Grand Army Plaza.
Distances and paces vary according to the group make up. This is an ideal set up for finding training partners
to suit your goals. Non club members are welcome to join us.
Sunday mornings at 9 am, we meet on the sidewalk at Grand Army Plaza.
Typically we run one loop of the park, as a recovery run from Saturday's long run.
Wednesday night runs meet regularly at 7:15 pm, also at GAP. These runs have become well
established, and provide a chance for evening runners to run with the group.
Prospect Park Youth Running Group
PPTC has been helping to promote the launching of the Prospect Park Youth Running Club, and we are glad to report that the response has been well beyond expectations. Current information on the group, headed by Sean Rice, long time track coach of Midwood HS, can be accessed at www.ppyrc.com
