Speedwork with PPTC

PPTC is now offering two separate programs for speed work.

PPTC Training Program with Coach John Honerkamp

PPTC is excited to announce all-year structured workouts open to all paces and all runners training for any race distance or no specific race. So whether you want to tackle your first 5K or crush an Ultra--you're welcome to join us.  These workouts are free to all members of PPTC. Included will be in-person group speed work Tuesday mornings and a prescribed optional run for later in the week. Check out the members only Google forum and the #PPTC-Training channel on PPTC’s Discord server for more information.

About Coach John Honerkamp:

John Honerkamp has coached runners of all ages and abilities for over 20 years. He was an assistant coach at St. John’s University (Queens, NY) for five years, working with mid- and long-distance runners, and was the recruiting coordinator for all events. A 1998 graduate of St. John’s, Honerkamp was an eight-time All-Big East and six-time All-East (IC4A) athlete while running for the Red Storm.

Coach John worked for almost 6 years at New York Road Runners. He is the co-founder of the November Project-NYC and led the group for over 3 years. He did a stint as a Lululemon Running Ambassador, and is member of the NYAC Running Team which he also manages.

Coach John started his own consulting firm, Run Kamp, LLC. in late 2015 where he offers several services. Some services include corporate wellness, running-related consulting, motivational speaking, freelance writing, and private coaching.


Speed Workouts with Coach Tony and Coach Charlene

Itching to get speedy in the crisp, colder weather? Feeling like getting out there to battle those post-marathon blues?

Coach Tony Watson and Assistant Coach Charlene Kohler-Britton are offering a 5-week speed work session. Speed work is highly recommended to enhance any training program to help you meet your race goals. Ways to improve your speed, efficiency, and running form, as well as injury prevention, stretching/strengthening drills, will also be addressed.

Sessions are offered for experienced/faster runners (Tuesdays) and beginner/slower runners (Thursdays).

These sessions are for PPTC members only, 18 years of age and up. Registration is capped at 25 members per evening. Workouts will be held outdoors each week in Prospect Park.
