Surviving in a COVID-19 World: PPTC Quarantunes Playlist
If you’ve visited a store for essential reasons over the past few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that many have taken a themed approach to music during this unprecedentedly trying time. That’s because it can provide words for things you want to say, without actually requiring you to say anything. (For example, most of us know “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” by The Police, but if you want someone to back away from you while shopping? Give them the runner’s nod and a smile, and you’ll both get the idea that you’re on the same page about adhering to social distancing!)
Like the act of running itself, music has the ability to make us feel connected, energized, and less alone. Which is why we currently need it more than ever to help us stay motivated, positive and entertained while we’re currently being forced to log the majority of our miles alone, with virtual training partners, or while working out indoors instead of following a training schedule.
Luckily, the PPTC Facebook hive mind churned out a ton of great song recommendations for a playlist we can all listen to while we can’t run together IRL. Huge thanks to Jana Trenk for asking all of us to contribute to that, and also to Emily Golloub for compiling all recommendations into one playlist.
If you have any recommendations to add, let us know at blog@pptc.org. In the meantime, let’s all continue to run safe and stay healthy!
