Trail Training Group

Looking for a run crew who loves dirt and vert? PPTC’s trail group is an opportunity to connect and train with trail and ultramarathon enthusiasts. This group meets year round for workouts and trail runs in Prospect Park and outside the city. 

In-person group workouts are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in prospect park. We mix up running on prospect park trails and the paved road. 

Meet us Tues & Thurs 6:30am at GAP (Grand Army Plaza) where we’ll warm up to Harry's Wall (near Lakeside) to begin the workout at 6:40. Feel free to meet us in either spot. Our workouts are adaptable based on your experience. They are “no drop” and conducted so no one is left behind. 

We organize weekend group runs to trails outside of the city. We frequently visit Rockefeller State Park, South Mountain Reserve, Hudson Highlands or Greenbelt Trails. 

Each spring, PPTC has a strong showing of runners at Rock the Ridge, a relay, Marathon and 50 Mile trail race in Mohonk Preserve. We offer a tailored training plan in preparation for this race.

Every fall, we train for the PPTC Endurance Fest, a 50 mile and 50K ultramarathon that our club puts on every December in Prospect Park. 

We also organize a team car pool to local trail races throughout the year and a weekend trip to a destination race each year.
