Inside the earbuds of … Jerry Luna
Welcome to this week’s installment of Inside the Earbuds of… Exercise was the hottest thing in the 80s. Everyone was slipping on leg warmers, workout unitards and heading to aerobics classes -- including a young Jerry Luna. Flex! Enjoy Jerry's top tunes and maybe you'll be inspired to make a new mixtape, err, I mean playlist.
I usually have a bunch of 80s sprinkled around my playlists -- so for this earbuds column I decided to make a complete 80s mix. Long runs are a journey and I like to start them out with slow, epic, 80s anthems to sing along to (thankfully not out loud), like I am running through a John Hughes film. Hopefully by the time Blondie comes on I've hit my stride because the driving rhythm of those songs gives me an extra kick. If I am doing a short workout -- I'd probably start it around there. I grew up listening to a lot of new wave so that's what you'll see represented here, and I never say no to some Michael, Madonna, or cheesy hair metal.
