To Mom, With Love
A PPTC MOTHER’S DAY
From the time we’re young the women in our lives influence us. Whether it’s a neighbor who watches you after school or a female coach or teacher or your grandmother, mother, or aunt, they often take on the role of nurturing us throughout our childhood and often into adulthood. I can’t tell you how many people have stepped into this role for me at different points of my life. These women watched out for me when I’ve needed help or offered advice or comfort, some of them are part of PPTC, and I am so lucky to have them. On the reverse, I’ve been accused of mothering friends before, which I take as a compliment, even if they don’t mean it that way. It’s an honor in my opinion. The thing is, mothering is tough. It is endless nights of worrying, changing soiled sheets, drying tears, disciplining, comforting, feeding, and loving. It takes guts, selflessness, and so much care and this is just what I see from the outside looking in. There’s no doubt that there’s more that goes into being a mother, and on top of that many of our members are fitting in runs and workouts in between all their care taking. You all don’t just deserve a day, but at the very least a whole week, until then we’ll work with what we have. Happy Mother’s Day to all our PPTC mothers and maternal figures!
