And the nominees are …

It’s election season at PPTC! The election for PPTC’s mascot is now open. Who among these nominees is worthy of filling the shoes of our beloved retiring PPTCat? Read below about each of the nominees. Not to be confused with the election for the Board, voting for PPTC’s new mascot will be open only through Wednesday April 27, 2022. The link to vote is being sent to members via the Open Forum and is linked to in the SpeedRead.

Kenny

Nominated by Doug Olney

Kenny, supposedly named for Kenny Chesney, and is Doug’s mom’s rescue dog. Kenny is a mix of chihuahua and pit bull. He's super friendly and approachable - just like PPTC!

When he's out on his walks, passers-by are often attracted by his happy face and stop to say hello to him. He's a runner too, more precisely a sprinter, until he sniffs out something and has to come to a complete halt to investigate. Becoming PPTC's mascot will be Kenny's chance to be a star, just like his famous namesake - please give him your vote!

Spike

Nominated by Kristie Blase

Spike (the cat pictured here) was the best cat ever. He was loved by his family for 19 years before passing away a few weeks ago.

Cathy

Nominated by Janet Gottlieb

She's photogenic and is herself an enthusiastic runner, at least for a mile or two or until she sees a squirrel.

Mr. Marbles

Nominated by Holly Chase

Feeling low during a race? There's nothing like the wet, bulging eyes of a neurotic chihuahua to turn things around. Mr. Marbles specializes in post-run naps rather than actual running, but he's with you from the sidelines 100%. According to the American Kennel Club, chihuahuas "possess loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude," the perfect combination of traits to rep PPTC. Recognizing those that came before, Mr. Marbs would even consider sharing the mascot title with PPTCat. He's not too sure about retrievers though...

Ross

Nominated by Eva Barnett

Due to the rising popularity of black cats in our community, Ross is the ideal candidate for PPTC's new mascot. He has a little white tuxedo patch, so he will literately always be dressed for the occasion, any of them. Ross is exceptionally soft, incredibly lazy, and truly has a way with meows. He is quite the athlete himself when he zooms throughout the night. For an unknown reason, he also loves to carb load with unattended bread left on the counter. His favorite hobbies include laying in the sun, laying on the bed, and laying on the sofa.

Kevin

Nominated by Lauren Nolan

Kevin is an avid runner. He loves a loop around the park (followed by more running after a tennis ball in Long Meadow). Kevin's floppy muppet face brings joy to all who look at it. Anytime we're outside, I can see peoples faces light up and endorphins release into their systems from afar when they catch a glimpse of Kevin. As the new mascot for PPTC, club members will get a boost of endorphins just at the mere sight of the his face, on a giant cardboard cut out. Bonus points when Kevin is present IRL to cheer on runners.

Athena

Nominated by: Victoria Babilani

She loves to run - great training support and when she is not sleeping she loves patrolling Ocean Parkway.

Elliot

Nominated by Lillian Park

We had #PPTCat, now we will have #PPTChild

Bandit

Nominated by Lillian Park

It's now time for PPTC to have a dog!

Trax

Nominated by Justin Sherwood

Trax (pronounced Tracks) loves running in circles and eating afterwards.

Pierre aka PiPi

Nominated by Minh Giang

Like many runners, he runs for dessert!
