(Late) Weekend Recap: June 8-9

PPTC Oakley New York Mini 10K The forecast promised rain, but Saturday morning arrived sunny and bright for the Oakley New York Mini 10K in Central Park. Congratulations to all 41 of our PPTC women who finished the hilly course. Anna Tattan, Tiffany Hendryx, and Dominique Gagne were our top three finishers. In the team standings, PPTC was 12th (out of 45!) in the open division, 17th in the 40+ division, and 17th in the 50+ division. Shout out to Anne Perzeszty, who finished 6th in her age group! Nice job, Ladies!

The men's team helped all the racers by gathering a cheering squad near the 5 mile mark, just when everyone needs a boost during the 10K to kick it home. Thanks guys!

On Saturday evening in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the second Red Hook Crit of 2013 took place, with another set of fast Men and Women 5K races before the main event. Congratulations to the PPTCers who sped around the 4-lap course : Susie Teal (22:38), Jess Yeomans (23:56.83), Clarence Lynn (18:54.83), Michael Abrahams (19:49.83), and Kamen Yotov (20:24.60), Ernie Hershey (20:30.58) -- Did I miss anyone?

And if anyone is thinking about signing up for next year, Jess gives this race some very high praise: "The Red Hook Crit series has become my favorite race; fierce competition, interesting venues with breathtaking views of the city, an energetic crowd surrounding a great course, and INTENSE entertainment... it all sets the stage for an awesome evening event."
