The Inside Loop: July 2013

Ed. note: the Energizer Bunny has nothing on Tom! Despite a hospital stint in June, he managed to stay abreast of all of the juicy club gossip. We're glad to have him back and in good health. -KW PPTC's Peggy Casey's back! Like Dorothy says, "theres no place like home....." Lots of water under the Verrazano and along Shore Road since she her moving to another club but she's baaaaccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk....

The challenge is out: ''no one passes Keith Williams the last 200...." ( he says....)

Great to see former PPTC president Jack Stetch joining Aaron Koffler and Dennis Sivack - sans his Sebago Canoe Club kayak - on their noon run into Bartel Pritchard on Thursday, June 7th.

Congrats to Matt and Olenka Strawn on the birth of their son Andrew Miles on June 13. Although Andrew's birth weight had been recorded, we understand that he's still running barefoot!

On the first full day of Summer 2013, Saturday, June 22, Marianne Van Ooij won the Huber Heights Half Marathon, near Dayton, Ohio, placing third overall, in a time of 1:33:39. Rich Weaver mentions that Marianne broke the former female course record in the process! Double Awesome!!!!!!!! And according to Evan Oakley, and this has to be a triple awesome, Marianne's brother finished second in the event's 5K. Hard to tell who wears the fast genes in that family.

Fantastico! Prospect Park Youth Runner Julianne Yotov's 6:23 in the 1500 and 3:10 in the 800 will send her to the upcoming USATF Junior Olympic Regional Championships. Whatta nice Father's Day gift for Kamen!
