While PPTC' has weekly training sessions throughout the year lead by Coach John Honerkamp, the beginning of July marks the beginning of fall marathon training for many of our members. To celebrate the commencement of fall marathon training, we took class pictures. I present the 2025 PPTC Marathon Training Group. Special thanks to our volunteer photograph Kent Meister. In July, Katie Zhong, PT, DPT (she/her) of Ascent Physical Therapy presented a workshop on Pelvic Health for Runners (all-gender inclusive) for PPTC. The workshop explored the anatomy, biomechanics, and training strategies that can keep the pelvic floor healthy and strong. Below is a summary of the workshop written by Dr. Zhong.
The biggest reward for a well-run AGSS race, everyone agrees, is community.
On Friday, May 9th, Carmen (she/her) and Brian (he/him) crossed the finish line of Cocodona 250, an ultramarathon from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff, Az. This year’s race was actually 256.4 miles and wound through desert towns, ranches and wilderness camps over mostly rocky trails, forest service roads and even some sidewalks. There are four major mountains to climb: Lane Mtn, Mingus Mtn, Sedona, and Mt Elden, totaling 40,000 ft of elevation gain.
I find that a true marker of good poetry is if most people can relate to it in some way. One person’s connection to a piece probably won’t be the same as another’s, and therein lies the beauty of poetry. You may not understand it, but it makes you feel.
