Come join PPTC in racing or cheering at the NYRR Percy Sutton 5k! This is a Team Points race, so we'd like to have a big PPTC showing.
If you'd like to race--registration is still open. You can sign up here: https://www.nyrr.org/races-and-events/2018/percy-sutton-harlem-5k-run
Note: Runners of all paces are encouraged to race. You can help the team if your time is fast enough to earn us points, but you cannot hurt the team by running slowly.
About the race:
This 5K race honors the late Percy Sutton, who as Manhattan borough president in the 1970s championed the New York City Marathon as a five-borough event and remained a supporter of NYRR and running throughout his life; he passed away in 2009. The run celebrates historic Harlem and is part of HARLEM WEEK, one of the northeast area's largest cultural celebrations.
Course Info:
This fast 5K course circles St. Nicholas Park and runs alongside Jackie Robinson Park, both historic and beautiful enclaves in the heart of Harlem. Though there is significant climbing in the first mile, most of the rest of the race is flat and downhill, including a thrillingly flat and fast final half-mile to the finish on St. Nicholas Avenue at approximately 138th Street, near the Percy E. Sutton Education Complex.
