As we are all currently doing our best to deal with the disruptions of COVID-19, we wanted everyone to know that the club is not just about running, and we can do more to support one another. In that spirit, we are rolling out a community support channel that we are dubbing "Help Me PPTC."
If you find yourself in need of something, be it food, medical supplies, or anything else and you are unable to leave your home or get it delivered, please send an email to helpme@pptc.org. We have a small list of volunteers that have signed up to provide delivery service in a pinch, and since we all have either a bike or the ability to run with a pack, we will not be reliant on public transit or other higher risk modes of transport.
Each volunteer will be given the following instructions to minimize exposure and risk to themselves and whoever reaches out for help:
Health & Safety Guidelines For Volunteering
Before volunteering, please confirm the following:
You are not sick or exhibiting any cold/flu/allergy/sore throat symptoms
You have not been in contact with a symptomatic person or someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
You or someone you live with has not traveled to one of the countries listed as high risk by the CDC
To minimize community transmission, we recommend the following for volunteers:
Wear rubber disposable gloves while running errands
Sanitize or cover any carriers that you are using to collect items
Limit delivery to quick drop-offs and if you have to wait for someone to come to the door, maintain a distance of 6ft from the recipient
Frankly, we hope no one needs to use this service. However, those of us volunteering would much rather take the time to help than know that something happened to a neighbor or teammate because there was no way to reach out.
Please note that anyone who uses this service will remain anonymous except from the small number of volunteer responders, so please don't hesitate to ask for the help.
Thanks again for everything that you have already done for one another. Keep being excellent to one another.
