Because my definition of "fun" has radically changed since joining PPTC, LET'S HAVE A PLANK-OFF. In a nutshell, this means we start doing a plank at the same time, and the last person planking wins. PRIZE: Clothing Comm has generously offered any item from the store for the top 2 winners.
Sign-ups are now closed, but if you would like to watch and eat popcorn on 4/1 (at 7:30 am and 6 pm), here is the link: https://zoom.us/j/3023908076
The top 16 plankers (or the top 8 in each group) will move on to the semi-finals, date TBD.
Yes, there are articles on the internet that say planking for more than two minutes isn't that good for you and doesn't improve your fitness. To which I say, pshaw, no one ever set a Guinness World Record for doing mountain climbers!
Rules of (Core) Engagement:
1) You must continuously hold a low plank position (elbows on ground) until failure. Stealth core boards or any equipment that would cause a significant deviation from standard low plank position are not allowed.
2) Headphones, magazines, and other accessories that will help you pass the time without distracting other competitors are allowed, as long as you maintain the low plank position at all times. That means you can drink water only if you can get to it without moving your elbows off the ground.
3) We will have a moderator or two keeping an eye on the time and making sure no one slips.
