When T.S. Eliot wrote "April is the cruelest month", was he referring to (a) all the race cancellations (b) running with a face covering, (c) not being able to run, (d) all of the above? But it's also National Poetry Month, and to help fortify your spirit, PPTC is holding a virtual poetry jam. For the Zoom link, please see SpeedRead or Facebook.
We're kicking off with a special guest reading from published poet and marathon runner Tony Garcia. But we invite everyone to read a poem (preferably about running or something that has inspired your during the lockdown, or even one you have written yourself). You don't have to read, of course -- you can just tune in and listen.
If you want to read something, please sign up on the google spreadsheet so the MCs (Dominique Gagne and LMK) can keep track and call on you.
***************
Here's a little background on Tony: Tony Garcia has taught and coached at the middle school level for nearly three decades. Over the past several years, he has also worked tirelessly to achieve his goal of running the Boston Marathon. He began chronicling his journey to Boston and soon realized he was not actually writing about running at all. The hard lessons he was learning about failure, strength, and success applied to all areas of his life. Since the release of his first two books, Wanna Know a Truth? and Whispers from My Heart, Garcia has been sought out to speak to both children and adults across the country. His message has inspired and motivated others to pursue their dreams, believe in themselves, and live their fullest life.
