Ragnar Chase the Moon Run

  • 1 Prospect Park West NY, 11215 United States (map)

Come out for the third annual Ragnar Chase the Moon challenge for charity! This is a great opportunity to experience Prospect Park in a whole new light: the light of the full strawberry moon. You'll have the chance to get comfortable with night running, trail running, AND do good. If we collectively run 20 trips around the moon (134,000 miles), Ragnar Trail will donate $8,000 to the 100 Mile Club, a non-profit that fights childhood obesity and empowers kids and families through physical activity. All levels encouraged, particularly beginners, and there's no pace too slow. Plus, you'll learn about Ragnar Relay Races, such as Lake Wawayanda NJ Trail relay (October 11-12).

For this space race, we will run 6.7 miles – with a 5k shortcut option – around and through Prospect Park roads, grassy hills and bridle paths. Here is the route.

Meet at 7:15 pm at the regular PPTC meeting point at Grand Army Plaza, near the entrance to the park on the plaza. Ragnar Trail Warriors David Hantman and Ashley Macha will guide you. We will run in the moonlight, so wear a headlamp or bring a flashlight. We will also have some Ragnar swag and goodies (moon pies!) to give away. Bring your own hydration. There will not be any bag drop. For those seeking recovery drinks after the event, we will have an after-run gathering at the bar The Double Windsor. This run will take place rain or shine.
