General Membership Meeting

Our speaker for the May PPTC General Club Meeting will be Björn Böttcher.

Björn Böttcher is the owner / pastry chef at Der Pioneer in Kensington, Brooklyn.
It is an all day cafe, with house-made pastries, sandwiches, specialty coffee drinks, pop up dinners, birthday parties, and more. Björn has been living in Kensington for 19 years. He has always wanted to open his own cafe/bakery since he moved from Germany in 2000. Fast forward to today Der Pioneer is an anchor for the community.

Björn's running journey started in 2011 and he has been running ever since. He is very excited to run his first Brooklyn Half Marathon this year. He also wanted to support an organization that does incredible work around the world, World Central Kitchen by Jose Andres. He connects with Jose's efforts and journey, thus Björn started the gofundme campaign. When Björn first arrived in New York City in May 2001 he worked at a restaurant, Danube by David Bouley. This restaurant was located 7 blocks from the World Trade Center. In the aftermath of 9/11 Danube did not close and it became a 24-hour catering operation to provide meals to the first responders for 2 months.

The kitchen has no borders.
