Congratulations NYC Marathoners

Every year the New York City Marathon marks a momentous occasion for everyone in New York City. The 51st New York City Marathon held on November 6, 2022 was no less memorable than the 50 that preceded it. This iteration of the marathon was the warmest so far. The official results note the weather at the start as a temperature of 73 degrees with 73% humidity, and wind of 18 MPH. The weather at the finish is noted as 74 degrees, with 69% humidity, and wind at 6 MPH. Backed-up NYRR shuttle buses from the St. George ferry terminal to the start village presented even more challenges for runners before they even began to run. Later, runners would encounter fluid stations that had run out of cups. All these challenges did not stop the 201* Prospect Park Track Club members who finished the marathon.

Running by PPTC’s cheer station at mile 7 and finding PPTC members cheering them on throughout the course, many of our finishers closed out their race day by going to PPTC’s post-race reunion. Here each finisher was greeted with applause, cow bells, hugs, and smiles. As tired as they were, these runners indulged me with a smile for some finisher portraits with their medals. Here are some of our valiant finishers and some other photos from race day taken by some of PPTC’s many volunteer photographers.

Congratulations New York City marathoners and thank you to everyone who volunteered or cheered.
